Turtle Point, Little Maldives, Long Beach and more โ what each checkpoint is actually like underwater.
Pulau Redang isn't a single beach โ it's a cluster of bays, reefs, and sandbars around the main island, each with a different look and feel underwater. A typical SurayaRedang day trip visits several of these in one day, with the exact route chosen by our crew based on weather, tide, and visibility on the day.
Here's what to expect at each of the checkpoints we visit most often.
The name says it all โ this is the spot with the best chance of a green turtle sighting. It's not a guarantee (they're wild animals), but this is where our crew heads first when conditions and timing look promising. The water here is a little deeper than other stops, so it suits guests who are reasonably comfortable in open water.
A shallow, powder-white sandbar that seems to float in the middle of turquoise water โ hence the nickname. It's a favourite for photos and a good rest stop between snorkeling sessions, with calm, shallow water that's comfortable for less confident swimmers.
A long stretch of beach with calmer, shallower water close to shore, gradually deepening further out. This is often one of the more relaxed stops on the route โ good for beginners and for guests who want to spend some time on sand as well as in the water.
A sea cave and rocky outcrop area with more textured coral coverage than the sandy spots. This stop tends to appeal to guests who've snorkeled before and want to see a bit more reef structure and marine life diversity.
A sheltered bay that tends to stay calm even when conditions elsewhere are a little choppier, which makes it a reliable option for first-timers or families with young children.
A small reef island a short boat ride from the main Redang coastline, with good coral cover in the shallows close to the rocks. Worth noting if you're specifically hoping to see more coral rather than open sandy seabed.
A quieter beach stop, often used as a lunch or rest break between snorkeling sessions rather than a primary snorkeling checkpoint.
SurayaRedang's standard day trip package covers multiple checkpoints, but the exact combination and order depends on sea conditions on the day โ currents, tide, and visibility all factor in. Our crew makes this call on the water, prioritising safety and water quality over sticking to a fixed itinerary.
